Looking to try a barre fitness class for the first time, but don't really know what you should expect? You're not alone.
Most barre-based classes use a combination of postures inspired by ballet and other disciplines like yoga and Pilates. The barre is used as a prop to balance while doing exercises that focus on isometric strength training (holding your body still while you contract a specific set of muscles) combined with high reps of small range-of-motion movements.
Also, the class incorporates light handheld weights to bring the heat during all those reps, as well as mats for targeted core work.
Join Kristinna for this informative, useful and fun Intro to Barre workshop where you'll learn about the different components of a Barre class and how to efficiently move your body in combination with your breath and with full mind-to-body awareness of the practice, so you can be more effective in your workout results.
Meet us on Saturday March 4 from 1:30 to 3:30 pm and bring grip socks, towel and water. This workshop consists of lecture and a Barre class to put it all together.
Cost $38 per person, member discounts apply.
