Our 200-Hour Teacher Training with Jano Galindo, E-RYT 500 is ideal for aspiring instructors and yoga students who want to deepen their practice. Students will gain knowledge in not just yoga philosophy principles but on areas like anatomy, alignment, doctrines, and in the art of teaching a well-rounded yoga class. They will learn everything they need to go out and share the gift of yoga with the world. Our first info session is on May 5th at 10 am at Namaste Fitness.

Restorative Yoga Teacher Training

A 25-Hour Restorative Yoga Training & Introduction to Meditation

Restorative Yoga is a simple yet highly effective system for relaxing the body, quieting the mind and nourishing the spirit. Accessible to students of all ages, experience levels and body types, convenient and approachable, it‘s an invaluable stress reduction tool for everyday life. 

Restorative Yoga uses props to support the body into a position of ease and comfort to facilitate both relaxation and health. Therapeutic in nature, this quiet practice releases the inner grip of your muscular, emotional and energetic layers. The result is a clearer mind, softer heart and renewed sense of vitality and aliveness. 

Shauna will share her extensive training, therapeutic experience and heartfelt approach to help you learn the tools to practice and teach Restorative Yoga with confidence.

 

The training includes:

·     The Background and Benefits of Restorative Yoga 

·     The Relaxation Response: the science of relaxation  

·     The Polyvagal Theory: Understanding our Nervous System 

·     How to teach the classic restorative postures

·     How to use props to enhance the relaxation response 

·     Adjustments and verbal cues to deepen the practice

·     How to create an environment for healing and rest

·     An introduction to Mindful Meditation, Chakra Meditation and Yoga Nidra

·     Breath practices that aid relaxation

·     A multi-page training manual for reference and referral 

·     A take home assignment designed to help you deepen your knowledge and elevate your confidence (required only for Certified Yoga Teachers claiming Yoga Alliance CEUs).

Your Teacher

Shauna MacKay, B.P.E., E-RYT, C-IAYT, is an inspiring and passionate teacher. Known to bring a depth of knowledge and intention to her classes that take students far beyond the physical practice. She is a Certified Yoga Therapist and senior yoga teacher with a loyal and enthusiastic following. Her experience, deep compassion and light-hearted, sense-of-humor create a safe and inspiring environment for all her students regardless of their age or yoga experience. Her annual yoga retreats regularly sell out. Shauna leads teacher trainings in Restorative Yoga, Yin Yoga, Chakra Yoga, Pranayama/Subtle Body and Mindfulness-based Yoga and is a faculty member of Prana Yoga’s 200 and 300-hour teacher trainings.  She is a trained Master Integrative Coach and a certified Yoga Therapist and a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists. 

Shauna continues to study with master teachers and has completed advanced trainings in Restorative Yoga, Yin Yoga, Yoga for a Happy Back, iRest© Yoga Nidra, Chakra Yoga, Urban Zen, Yoga for Cancer Recovery, Street Yoga, Yoga of the Heart© Cardiac and Cancer Certification, Yoga of Awareness Cancer Training at Duke Integrative Medicine, and Pelvic Floor Yoga®. In the last couple of years, she has deepened her personal practices with silent retreats led by Sarah Powers, Richard Miller, PhD and a couple of 9-day yin and chakra meditation retreats with Paul Grilley.  

Shauna loves to hike, run and meditate. Her favorite yoga experiences are the mindful-based practices like Yin, Restorative and Yoga Nidra. She teaches several therapeutic-based yoga classes each week in La Jolla and sees Yoga Therapy clients in the La Jolla/San Diego area.
